Ranunculus Asiaticus L.
The ranunculus is a plant perfectly suited to the Mediterranean climate, naturally flowering in spring after a winter vegetative period. During this time, it develops its storage organs, the rhizomes, and enters dormancy in summer to protect itself from the heat.
Cultivation is traditionally carried out from the rhizome, which consists of tuberous roots that store nutrients. Small-sized rhizomes (1/2, 2/3) are planted in autumn for late-winter or spring blooms, while medium and large rhizomes (3/4, 4/5, 5+) are prepared during the summer months for winter production.
Hydration and cold treatments stimulate germination and advance flowering, allowing plants to bloom as early as October.
